Birgit Bujard is the institute’s executive manager and the programme director for the Master’s in political science as well as for the Bachelor's in social sciences. She represents the institute within the university and advises students on academic matters. She is also Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Turkey and European Union studies (CETEUS) and member of the Team Europe Direct, the speakers pool of the European Commission. She has studied political science in Cologne and London and has received her doctorate from the Universität der Bundeswehr München.

Her research focus is on EU-UK relations, British European policy, the political systems of the United Kingdom and the European Union as well as UK politics in general.
