Prof Dr Wolfgang Leidhold works on Political Theory and the History of Ideas. In particular, his work focuses on the relationship between politics and religion as well as the great traditions of occidental political thought. His team also works on political thought of the Islamic and Far-Eastern cultural spheres.

In addition, Prof Leidhold is a pioneer of online learning. His team developed ILIAS, an advanced online learning platform, which is now used at the entire University of Cologne and beyond.
