On 3 July 2024, together with GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, the Cologne Center for Comparative Politics (CCCP), affiliated with the Cluster of Excellence: ECONtribute hosted a workshop on "Multi-Data Perspectives on Democracy". The pre-EPSA workshop was co-organized by Jun.-Prof. Chitralekha Basu (Empirical Democratic Theory) and Prof. Michael Bechtel (Political Economy). The 14th annual conference of the European Political Science Association (EPSA) takes place in Cologne from 4-6 July 2024.
Participating scholars entered a productive and stimulating dialogue about issues of democracy, democratic stability, and democratic transitions and discussed approaching these topics linking multiple types of data (such as surveys, administrative data, geospatial data, digital traces, etc.). The Institute for Political Science and Europan Affairs was glad to welcome researchers from the UK, Colombia, Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, and Israel speaking about information, history, geography, accountability and representation, political parties, and transitions.
