General information on the current situation

The coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) continues to affect the situation at the university. Restrictions on teaching, research and administration will remain in place. State and federal regulations that go beyond the provisions of the guidelines, will continue to take precedence. According to the current state regulations, physical (in presence) teaching and examinations are only permitted in narrowly defined cases. The summer semester must therefore begin in a digital format.

The current regulations include:

  • At present, face-to-face teaching and examinations are largely prohibited and are only permitted in narrowly defined exceptions
  • The operation of university libraries is permissible under strict observance of the hygiene and infection protection requirements laid out in the Corona Protection Ordinance of North Rhine-Westphalia. The University and the Faculties are currently examining the extent to which offering services is possible and practicable under these conditions.
  • Mouth-and-nose covers (everyday mask) must be worn and the minimum safety distance observed in all buildings used by the University. Medical masks must be worn during face-to-face examinations and face-to-face teaching as well as when required for reasons of occupational health and safety or in accordance with the Corona Protection Ordinance NRW

The full hygiene and protection regulations can be found here.
